Guided Deep Relaxation
This class is designed for those who need to deeply relax and restore both body and mind. We’ll begin with a gentle asana (posture) sequence intended to release tension and anxiety, mobilize the joints, increase circulation and energy, and connect body and breath to focus attention. The second half of class will be dedicated to deeply relaxing through the ancient technique of yoga nidra (yogic sleep), which includes a series of guided meditations and visualizations. You’ll leave powerfully restored and refreshed. All levels are welcome.
Practices that explore slow and deliberate yet dynamic movement blended with static postures. Along with restoration there will also be opportunities and options to build strength and heat without ever breaking a sweat. All levels are welcome.
Yoga for the Trauma Survivor
This weekly drop-in class focuses on restoring serenity in the body, mind and spirit of any person who may have experienced Trauma either personally or vicariously. Class themes, postures, meditations and breath practices will be trauma informed and specific to the needs of trauma survivors. The range of personal experiences and what constitutes trauma is quite broad, but at it's core trauma can be described as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience, or physical injury. There are no requirements to attend this class; it is open to all who are interested or anyone simply seeking a gentle yoga practice. All levels are welcome.
Restoration and healing are essential for any physical practice. In restorative practices the 'rest and digest' part of the nervous system is activated and the body and mind are given permission to relax and recover. Please expect: meditation/visualization, gentle movements, passive stretching and longer stays in certain postures supported with props. All levels are welcome.
